Hildi Hagedorn

Co-Principle Investigator,PhD

Hildi Hagedorn, PhD is a core investigator and a Director of the Implementation Core with the Center for Care Deliver & Outcomes Research (CCDOR) within the Minneapolis VA Health Care System and associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. In her 20-year career with the VHA, she has worked to implement evidence-based practices for substance use disorders treatment including contingency management, pharmacotherapy for alcohol use disorder, and pharmacotherapy for opioid use disorder. While she has not specifically worked in the area of evidence-based PTSD treatment, she has long recognized the need to break down silos between specialty care treatment clinics in order to address the needs of the whole patient in a comprehensive and integrative fashion. This is evidenced by her work to integrate hepatitis C and HIV prevention, education, screening and treatment into substance use disorder specialty care settings. She has worked as PI and co-PI on large effectiveness and implementation projects where she has demonstrated her leadership skills and ability to oversee all aspects of project administration. Through her work, she has established relationships with VHA operational leaders and with substance use disorders specialty care leadership in VHA facilities across the country; relationships which will be invaluable to the successful completion of the proposed project and to future implementation of study findings. Finally, she is a nationally recognized expert in implementation science and bring that expertise to this trial. She will plan and conduct a thorough process evaluation which will assist us in moving forward quickly with implementation of findings from this project. This combination of skills and experience uniquely positions her to successfully fulfill her role as a co-Principal Investigator on this project. When she isn’t at work, Hildi enjoys skiing (on snow or water) and going to watch her teenagers play many, many volleyball, hockey and baseball games.
